A root canal is a dental procedure that is necessary when the tooth nerve is inflamed or dead. The cause of such inflammation can be tooth decay, a broken tooth or trauma. The treatment aims to remove the inflamed or dead dental nerve and thus save the tooth.

Dental fillings are a routine dental procedure. Nowadays plastics and ceramics materials are generally used. About what comes into play in our practice is the CEREC system Using the CEREC system, we can rely on composite ceramic blocks that have improved mechanical properties compared to pure ceramic. Depending on the findings, we always carefully consider which material is best for your tooth and mouth. Losing a tooth always means a gap in the teeth and therefore incorrect loading of the remaining teeth, which can ultimately affect the entire periodontium. If several teeth are affected, the food can no longer be chewed sufficiently and is reduced in size, so that even the diet can suffer as some vital substances can no longer be absorbed by the body due to the food being too large. The answer to the question about dentures is therefore simple: Lost and missing teeth should be replaced if possible! The only exceptions are wisdom teeth and teeth that, in rare individual cases, had to be removed by the dentist because the jaw was too narrow.

In order to prevent unwanted grinding of teeth while sleeping, the FOS splint we use takes advantage of the functional properties of the front teeth. Each tooth is connected to the chewing muscles via nerve fibers. If too much pressure is placed on the front teeth when biting, receptors tell the chewing muscles to relax and let go, which is a so-called protective reflex. Our splint takes advantage of exactly this protective reflex and reduces night-time teeth grinding by up to 70 %. Because the bite in the front is blocked by the splint, you can no longer bite or press on the side teeth at night. In this way, unphysiological biting patterns can be “deprogrammed”.

CEREC is the abbreviation for “Chairside Economical Restoration of Esthetic Ceramics“ or “Ceramic REConstruction”. It is a method for restoring tooth chewing surfaces and was originally developed by W. Mörmann at the University of Zurich. It is a highly modern approach in dentistry that has revolutionized the process of restoring teeth. The system enables us as dentists to carry out high-quality ceramic restorations directly in the dental practice and often within a single session.

The laser enables drilling into the tooth without contact, i.e. without the unpleasant vibration and heat generated by a drill. This means that you will experience less or no pain when removing caries. In many cases, anesthesia is not even required and most of the time it is still pain-free. Children and patients who suffer from what is known as "fear of the dentist" or fear of the drill in particular have the option of using the laser as a modern, gentle and low-pain treatment in modern dentistry. In addition, the laser removes caries very selectively from the tooth and leaves healthy tooth substance. As a result, in our practice we can work with the laser in a much more gentle way than with the drill, which of course also benefits you.
