HIGH-QUALITY TOOTH FILLINGS FOR LARGE AND SMALL CAVITIES

Dental fillings are a routine dental procedure. Nowadays plastics and ceramics materials are generally used. About what comes into play in our practice is the CEREC system Using the CEREC system, we can rely on composite ceramic blocks that have improved mechanical properties compared to pure ceramic. Depending on the findings, we always carefully consider which material is best for your tooth and mouth. On the one hand, it depends on which tooth is affected and, on the other hand, how big the hole is, caused by caries, for example. Of course, we also make sure to keep the costs of dental fillings low.

MODERN COMPOSITE FILLINGS

As a solution for small to medium-sized defects, we offer composite/plastic fillings for your teeth. Modern composite fillings are reliable, color and shape stable and achieve the desired life expectancy. They offer major advantages over previous amalgams and gold fillings: you can work minimally invasively (with the least possible injury) and they are also very aesthetically demanding. The composite fillings mainly consist of the smallest ceramic, glass and quartz particles, while the actual plastic content of modern filling materials now only amounts to around 20-30 %.

BE CAREFUL WITH AMALGAM FILLINGS – THEY COULD BE DANGEROUS

Amalgam consists of 50 % mercury, the rest is silver, tin and copper. All heavy metals. Amalgam fillings also have the property of slowly dissolving over the years under chewing stress and especially under the influence of acids (e.g. fruit). The very toxic mercury and other heavy metals get into the patient's body and over time cause poisoning, which can be a contributing factor to diseases such as Alzheimer's, Parkinson's, rheumatism and others. Have your old fillings checked as soon as possible and, if necessary, replace them with a suitable dental filling made of plastic, composite or ceramic.

Frequently asked questions

Dental fillings are an integral part of restorative dentistry. They serve to compensate for the loss of tooth structure, usually due to tooth decay or trauma, in order to restore the function and aesthetics of the tooth.

Plastic fillings: Also known as composite fillings, these fillings are made from a mixture of acrylic and fine glass particles. They can be color matched to the natural tooth, which makes them aesthetically advantageous.

Ceramic fillings: This type of dental filling is very similar in color to natural teeth and is resistant to discoloration. They are also very stable, making them an excellent choice. In our practice we use the state-of-the-art CEREC system, which allows us to produce the right composite ceramic filling for you in just one session.

Gold fillings: Gold is considered biocompatible and can last a long time. However, it is expensive and requires multiple dentist visits for placement. It also has a striking color and is therefore not necessarily to everyone's taste.

Amalgam fillings: Amalgam is a mixture of mercury, silver, tin and copper. This type of filling is particularly durable and cost-effective, which has made it a popular choice for molars where mechanical stress is highest. However, amalgam has a silver-gray color, which is less aesthetically pleasing, and contains mercury, which raises serious health concerns. Amalgam fillings should therefore be replaced if possible.

The service life depends heavily on the material used. High-quality dental fillings last up to 15 years or longer.

With composite or ceramic fillings, the color can be matched to the natural tooth. This is not possible with amalgam and gold.

The procedure is usually performed under local anesthesia, so you will not feel any pain during the treatment.

Regular and thorough oral hygiene and biannual visits to the dentist are crucial for the lifespan of the filling and of course for the health of the untreated teeth.

The cost of dental fillings varies depending on the material and complexity of the treatment. We will be happy to advise you on-site at our dental practice and, upon request, will provide you with a detailed cost estimate.

Yes, in certain cases inlays, onlays oder dental crowns can be a suitable alternative. These options are often longer lasting but also more expensive and can be discussed with us at the dentist's office.

Early intervention is crucial to minimize the risk of further complications such as dental infections or even tooth loss. It's best to make an appointment now if you have a toothache or suspect tooth decay.
