IN THESE CASES YOU SHOULD ACT QUICKLY

While “normal” snoring is annoying and should therefore be treated, sleep apnea should be addressed directly with snoring therapy.
Sleep apnea occurs when the airways are completely closed and short-term pauses in breathing occur. You can particularly recognize it by the fact that snoring is repeatedly interrupted by longer moments (15-60 seconds) of absolute silence, which then usually turns back into snoring with a loud, panting breath. Since the brain does not receive enough oxygen during the interruptions, a wake-up reaction is initiated every time, but the person affected is not consciously aware of it. For this reason, around 95% of those affected by sleep apnea know nothing about the acute problem, which is worrying because the associated problems should not be underestimated.

HOW SNORING THERAPY WORKS

We treat with the patented anti-snoring therapy from Fotona NightLase®. It is a non-invasive, patient-friendly laser treatment that results in a significant improvement in sleep quality. The consequences of sleep apnea and snoring are reduced by gently tightening the collagen fibers in the oral cavity mucosa. Simple, safe and effective.
The patented Erbium-YAG laser radiation with an optimized laser pulse length allows heat to penetrate safely into the oral mucous membrane. It is sufficiently gentle to be safely applied to the sensitive oral mucous membranes, and at the same time strong enough to achieve clinically necessary heating of the target tissue.

Frequently asked questions

When you sleep, not only your head relaxes, but also your muscles. The muscles of the soft palate, throat and tongue are crucial for snoring. If the relaxation of the muscles leads to a narrowing of the airways, a snoring noise occurs (values of over 90 decibels have already been measured, which corresponds to a busy highway).
The soft palate is usually caused to vibrate by the air flow when inhaling and exhaling and causes the noise. When the airways narrow, the flow speed of the inhaled air increases while the pressure in the throat decreases, which further promotes the vibration of the relaxed muscles.

Other factors that promote snoring include being overweight, drinking alcohol, sleeping on your back and taking various medications such as sedatives and sleeping pills, psychotropic drugs and tranquilizers.

In addition to tiredness, fatigue and depression, there is a decline in performance and sexual disorders. But this is just the tip of the iceberg, as more serious illnesses can also be caused by sleep apnea. This includes:

  • depression
  • High blood pressure
  • Cardiac arrhythmias
  • stroke
  • Diabetes
  • impotence
  • Heart disease – up to heart attack and sudden cardiac death

Untreated sleep apnea actually shortens not only sleep, but even lifespan by several years. Reason enough to act as quickly as possible.

NightLase® is easy for the doctor or dentist to perform and has a high success rate in achieving a change in sleep patterns. Research has shown that this method significantly reduces and attenuates snoring. It offers an effective, non-invasive way to minimize the effects of sleep apnea. More specifically, this happens through a non-invasive laser treatment, which stimulates the tightening of the collagen fibers in the oral cavity mucosa and thereby reduces snoring.

A complete treatment with NightLase® consists of three separate sessions within a period of 6 weeks. If desired, the therapy can be repeated.
Patients find this snoring therapy to be a very pleasant and satisfactory solution to their snoring problems. This therapy does not require a device to be worn while sleeping and does not involve any accompanying medication. It's a gentle and easy way to regain your precious night's sleep, and it's also cost-effective.

Snoring usually has several causes and, in addition to the slack palate tissue, the position of the lower jaw during sleep is often responsible. Especially if you prefer to lie on your back when sleeping, your airways become narrowed.

In these cases, combination therapy has proven to be very effective: in addition to treating the mucous membranes with the laser, you wear a specially made snoring splint at night. This keeps the lower jaw in a position that allows unhindered breathing. The rails are well tolerated and not so bulky that they are perceived as a hindrance.

If the diagnosis of sleep apnea is made by a doctor, insurance will even cover part of the costs. It is therefore important to clarify beforehand!
